‘Super Bullet Break’, ‘Voyage’, and Today’s Other Releases, News, and Sales – TouchArcade

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 12th, 2022. We’ve got a little bit of news to check out before heading into the remaining releases for the week. Nothing terribly exciting, but a few games that could catch your eye. We’ve got summaries of all of them to help you make your purchasing decisions. After that, it’s the usual lists of new and expiring sales. Let’s check it all out!

News

‘Kirby’s Dream Buffet’ Arrives Next Week

Previously announced with a vague August release date, Nintendo announced the exact date for Kirby’s latest side adventure. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is scheduled to release on the Switch eShop on August 17th. The price will be $14.99. You can play alone or with others via local or online multiplayer.

New Releases

Super Bullet Break ($19.99)

‘Super Bullet Break’, ‘Voyage’, and Today’s Other Releases, News, and Sales – TouchArcade

Super Bullet Break feels like the kind of game that was built to be free-to-play. If it were a mobile release, I would be suspicious that it would convert to a free-to-play game at some point. But no, this is a premium game, and since it’s on the Switch I expect it will stay that way. It’s a deck-building RPG with gacha mechanics and lots of cool cards (called Bullets here) to collect. Strictly a single-player game, and not entirely unpleasant. I’ll be doing a review for this one early next week.

Voyage ($14.99)

This is a really chill side-scroller that can be enjoyed by one or two player via local multiplayer. It features a wordless narrative that is pretty vague, and it keeps the violence to an absolute minimum. This came out on other platforms last year and it got decent enough reviews for what it is. I’ll be doing a review of it soon to let you know my thoughts, which I am sure you are waiting anxiously for.

Arcade Archives Gun & Frontier ($7.99)

Imagine a vertical shoot-em-up where everything is gun. That is Gun & Frontier. It’s absolutely ridiculous. A 1991 release from Taito, the team behind this involved a lot of the people behind Sagaia/Darius II. It imagines a weird sort alternate Wild West where you take to your ship to defend the people against sky pirates. Despite the unusual theme, the game itself is fairly orthodox for its era. Not bad, mind you. If you’re looking for some shoot-em-up food this week, it will fill your belly.

Sakura MMO ($9.99)

Yes, it’s another Sakura visual novel. A woman named Kotone gets isekai‘d (no Truck-kun this time, I believe) to the world of an online game she likes. She becomes her character from the game, who happens to be a witch with a bit of a sadistic side. She meets a bunch of cute heroines who, if she plays her cards right, she will get to smooch. Maybe even make out with them? Hold hands? No, that’s too far. Slow your roll.

Fashion Girls ($4.99)

In the beginning, there was Taito’s QIX. Then there were a bunch of naked lady versions of QIX. Then there were some scantily-clad lady versions of QIX. But are you ready for fully-clothed lady QIX? The idea here is that you have to carve off portions of the play area to reveal the clothes the women are wearing. Try not to hit anything dangerous, and eventually you’ll reveal enough to finish the stage. Did you know? You can buy the real QIX via Arcade Archives for $7.99.

That’s all for today and this week, friends. We’ll be back next week with more games, more reviews, more sales, and probably some more news. It’s a holiday weekend here in Japan, but there’s a typhoon rolling in. That means staying inside and playing lots of games, I reckon. Which is good, because I think I’m near the end of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and want to wrap it up. I hope you all have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for reading!
