How to Go to The Watcher’s Spire

Team Cherry’s Metroidvania action-adventure game, Hollow Knight, follows the journey of a nameless warrior called the Knight as he travels through Hallownest, which is now a kingdom in ruins because of a supernatural disease. As the Knight journeys through Hallownest, the Knight will discover and go through various areas with their environments and inhabitants.

The player will learn how to reach the Watcher’s Spire in this guide!

In the middle of the City of Tears is the Watcher’s Spire, the home of Lurien the Watcher, who is one of the Dreamers. Lurien the Watcher is involved in the Knights quest to destroy the infection, so defeating him is required to complete the game. Before the Knight can reach Lurien the Watcher, the Knight must face his guards called the Watcher Knights.

In the Watcher’s Spire, the Knight encounters different enemies: Cowardly Husk, Gluttonous Husk, Husk Dandy, Great Husk Sentry, Husk Sentry, Lance Sentry, Winged Sentry, and Heavy Sentry. Additionally, as mentioned above, the Knight will also encounter the Watcher Knights in the area.

In this area, the Knight can also encounter and obtain many items: one Geo Deposit, three Geo Chest with 650 Geo inside, one Grub, and the Hallownest Seal.

Reach The Watcher’s Spire

Before the Knight can reach the Watcher’s Spire, the Knight must first obtain the Monarch Wings ability, allowing the Knight to perform a double jump in mid-air. Additionally, to traverse the Watcher’s Spire, the Knight must also obtain the Mantis Claw ability to cling to walls and jump off them. 

With the Monarch Wings ability, reaching the Watcher’s Spire is very easy. To do that, this is what the Knight must do:

1. From the Memorial to the Hollow Knight in the middle of the City of Tears, head to the path on the right where the Knight will encounter a Cowardly Husk and a Husk Dandy, then take the exit on the right.
2. In the next room, take the elevator just near the entrance to the room and head up a level.
3. Then, head a little bit right, and before the glass floor (or gap if you have already destroyed the glass floor using the Descending Dark spell), you will see a platform above. Use the Monarch Wings to perform a double jump and reach the platform, then head to the left and take the exit above.
4. Upon entering the next room, the Knight is now in the Watcher’s Spire! To continue from this room, the Knight must head to the right, where the Knight will encounter a Cowardly Husk and a Husk Dandy, head up by using the Monarch Wings ability and the Mantis Claw ability where the Knight will face two Winged Sentries, then at the top head to the left where you will eventually see a path on the floor, head down and the Knight will encounter a Cowardly Husk, a Husk Dandy.
5. A Husk Sentry, head a little bit to the right and head down where the Knight will encounter a Gluttonous Husk, then head a little bit on the left, then head down where the Knight must defeat a Great Husk Sentry and a Winged Sentry to continue. After defeating them, the path on the right will be opened where there is a switch inside. Strike the switch to turn it, and the next pathway will be opened. Drop to the previous path on the right, then take the exit on the right, and the Knight can now continue in the Watcher’s Spire!

It is worth mentioning that the only bench in the Watcher’s Spire can be found in the exit on the top left of the first room with the switch. 

Another thing worth mentioning is a Geo Deposit in the middle left of the first room with the switch right before the battle where the Knight must defeat a Great Husk Sentry and a Winged Sentry.

Now that the Knight is in the Watcher’s Spire, he can head up and face the Watcher Knights and meet Lurien the Watcher at the very top of the Watcher’s Spire!
