Valkyrie Profile is an incredible JRPG from tri-Ace, the Star Ocean team. It’s a classic PSX title, and really, none of these little factoids matter because the game is bigger than any of that. It’s exactly the kind of thing I, and all fans of bizarre JRPGs everywhere, can appreciate. But hey, I got through Dept Heaven, so maybe I’m immune to insanity.
I mean how many other games hand you a pile of recruitable characters, show you every one of them dying horrendous, tragic deaths, and just move along like nothing happened. This game, man. And it’s more than that – I don’t wanna oversell the depressing bits. Valkyrie Profile knows how to hit a payoff, but I’ll save it for the video.
