Indie Game Releases of the Week: September 26 to October 2, 2022

This week in indie games, we have the adventure game The Spirit and the Mouse, farming sim Hokko Life, beer brewing sim Brewmaster, and more!

We’re back this week with another sprawling mass of indie game releases, and this time around, we’ve even got something of a theme!\

It’s all about villages this week, as you’ll find yourself restoring electricity to one as a mouse, or building houses and furniture for the locals, or conduction excavations that will lead to nothing horrific whatsoever, or do tarot readings and date villagers as a witch! We’ve also thrown in a beer brewing simulator, which you can pretend is set in a village, I guess?

The Spirit and the Mouse

September 26 on PC, Switch

The Spirit and the Mouse is a narrative adventure game in which you play as the tiny mouse Lila and bring electric light to the people of Saint-et-Clare, a French village.

You’ll explore every nook and cranny of the village, listen to villagers’ woes, using electricity-based powers, and retrieving ‘Kibblins’ – mischievous electric spirits that are running amok.

Hokko Life

September 27 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch

Hokko Life is a community sim game with farming and a creative aspect that lets you design furniture and items for the townsfolk of your new residence, the village of Hokko.

The game features a workshop where you can freely paint and design objects for your new village friends, and you can even build and decorate houses for them. There’s many more activities in the offing, including fishing and catching insects, digging, and chopping trees.

The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow

September 28 on PC, Mac, Linux

The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow is a point-and-click adventure with a folk horror tinge that takes you to the moors of rural Victorian England and has you exploring the horror that lies beyond the excavation of… well, Hob’s Barrow.

You play as Thomasina Bateman, who finds herself confronted by strange events and stranger dreams as she attempts to uncover the secrets of Hob’s Barrow amidst suspicious locals.

Brewmaster

September 29 on PC

Brewmaster is a beer brewing simulation game with realistic chemistry simulation to make your digital beers as close to the real thing as possible.

You get to pick from a wide variety of ingredients to use, create your own recipes, and even share them on Steam Workshop (on PC). Apart from that, you can also customize your home brewery and equipment, as well as design labels, create brands, and enter competitions.

Witchy Life Story

September 30 on PC

Witchy Life Story is a crafting sim and adventure game with cute and cozy vibes, where you play as a witch helping the locals of Flora with their upcoming Harvest Festival.

You can design your witch as you see fit, and then gather herbs, brew potions, make new friends in the locals, conduct guided meditations, tarot readings, and many other activities.
