‘Hokko Life’ Hangs Out With Pleasant, Kind Animal People
Hokko Life is a charming slice of life style game where you use your creative talents to make a town better after leaving your home city for a change of pace.
When you first arrive, you are able to go to a tavern where you are offered a place to stay for free. Everyone in the town seems so nice; they want to meet you and interact with you. What’s odd is that the whole world seems to be mainly filled with talking animals. Although you are a human so there must be others out there.
In this game, you are able to do a lot of the things that are in most slice of life games. You can craft furniture and decorate your home, go fishing or mining, collect resources, and go on little quests. What’s interesting is that the design system in Hokko Life does allow you to paint and move around aspects of your creations, which can make some really detailed and unique objects for your world. You can even customize your articles of clothing like that, stamping them and changing colors of different aspects of them. The game seems to focus on the freedom of creation, giving you loads of different options when it comes to customization.
With this amount of freedom, it’s up to you to change the village so that your villagers are more happy to live here. Everything is a bit rundown when you enter the town, so a bit of a face lift and sprucing up is exactly what it needs. I only got the chance to play a bit of Hokko Life, dipping my toes into the demo at Gamescom, but I really fell in love with how grateful and nice the villagers were and how cute the game is as a whole. I am very excited for the console release, as I am sure this game will make it onto my Xbox.
