How to Evolve Rhydon into Rhyperior in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

In the game, there are certain Pokemon that players cannot catch or are difficult to catch in the wild. One of the methods to catch these Pokemon is through evolution. One of these Pokemon is Rhyperior, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Rhydon into a Rhyperior!

Rhydon into Rhyperior

Rhyperior is a Rock and Ground Type Drill Pokemon with a brownish-gray and orange body, a large horn on its nose and another smaller horn above it, rocky plates on its head, shoulders, arms, waist, and knees which are the orange parts on its body, protrusions on its elbows that look like blades, and holes on the palms of its hands which act as cannons. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Rhyperior’s rock-like hide can withstand a blow from a masterwork sword and leave not even a scratch, and it is made up of a mysterious substance.

Alpha Rhyperior can be found in the area mentioned at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Rhyperior can only be found in the Sacred Plaza in the Coronet Highlands, and the Rhyperior that can be found here is an Alpha Pokemon. Aside from that, Rhyperior can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands and the Coronet Highlands.

However, if you would rather obtain a Rhyperior through evolution, the player can catch one by evolving a Rhydon using a Protector. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Rhydon.

Rhydon

The player can find a Rhydon along Celestica Trail and around the Sacred Plaza in the Coronet Highlands. Rhydon can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Aside from that, Rhydon may also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands and the Coronet Highlands or Space-Time Distortions.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Rhydon’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.

Suppose you plan on battling a Rhydon first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Rhydon is a Rock and Ground-type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness in Fighting-type, Ground-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and especially Grass-type and Water-type moves (super effective), resistance to Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Rock-type, and especially Poison-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Electric-type moves (no effect).

Protector

Now that the player has caught a Rhydon, all that is needed to evolve a Rhydon to Rhyperior is a Protector. There are several ways that the player can obtain an Protector:

The player can purchase a Protector for 10,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it Unwieldy Armor. Unfortunately, the items the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same, so the purchasable items may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.

The player can also purchase a Protector from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for only 1400 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.

Other than that, the player may find some Protectors on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so check out the items inside them.

Out of all the methods mentioned above, the easiest way to obtain a Protector is by purchasing one from the Trading Post for 1400 Merit Points.

Finally, Rhyperior!

After catching a Rhydon and obtaining a Protector, the player can evolve a Rhydon into a Rhyperior!

To do that, this is what the player must do:

1. Put the player’s Rhydon in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
2. Then, make sure that the Protector is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Protector to the player’s Satchel.
3. Afterward, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
4. Select the Protector, select “Use” on the prompt, then choose Rhydon from the player’s party to use the Protector on Rhydon.
5. Confirm on the prompt to evolve Rhydon. Then, just like that, Rhydon will evolve into a Rhyperior!

Now that the player has a Rhyperior, the player can try to use the Rhyperior to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ tasks for the player to catch ’em all!
