AQUABYSS – Eagerly awaited Amiga game by AgedCode gets new footage, and an unusual install method
In 2018 we were the first site to officially announce a new Amiga called ‘ AQUABYSS ‘, a game which at the time we didn’t have a lot of information about, but we were able to show a rather nice teaser trailer, and a story set in June 1821, in which you travel from Paris to the French coast and visit the very depths of the ocean to discover what lies underneath the surface. Well fast forward to today however and not only do we have more information about the game as it went public at Amiga37, but there’s a new gameplay video too!
This game has inspirations based on games like Sid Meier’s Pirates!, Elite Frontier II, Freelancer, Aquanox and some other good games. However the game does not contain arcade elements and, as it was said on other occasions, it’s not a 3D type. It’s rather slow pace action that does include trading where you can play it with a cup of tea or coffee and have some snacks. While we haven’t been able to find a download for the game anywhere, as the website is very odd, from what Predseda has said via the EAB forums which makes it even more confusing, he is noted as saying…
“At this moment you really need an internet connection as the floppy only contains installer (few hundred kBs) and the full game is 15 MB than need to be downloaded, that would not fit into a single floppy. Also – without internet the game experience will not be full, the game works with connection very intensively. Beside auto updates there is even player to player interaction – you can meet, trade and chat with other online players, game stores and saves your position online, stats, charts, players comparison etc. The game is fully working, but the development is going to be constant – new features, new quests etc., so if your Amiga is not connected, you will miss a new content soon”.
So yes if you were looking forward to playing this game, chances are unless you have an Amiga connected to the Internet (Who does?), you will miss out…. Personally I’d rather the full game be uploaded to the website, and we can transfer it over to the Amiga manually as updates appear. Or have I got it all wrong?
