Here are my Top 10 Alien Based games. It took me a while to figure out which games to choose as there are quite a number of Alien type games out there.

As you well know, I will of course ignore any modern games as we are thinking Retro style here, but not quite sure about a couple of them. The games in my list below are in no particular preferential order, so here goes….

I don’t know if you require many comments about each game, but I will say a few  – watch the videos below and enjoy the gameplay!

1. SUPER PROBOTECTOR ALIEN REBELS (SNES) 

What can I say about this game, except that it’s so cool to play. It’s fast and furious contra style game play…but with Aliens what else could you ask for?

2. ALIEN SYNDROME (Sega Mega System)

An awesome buddy up team playing alien shooter. Stalk all manner of alien bad guys here for lots of sci-fi fun.

3. ALIEN TRILOGY (PS1) 

The one and only original classic game, based on the film ALIEN. A firm favourite of mine. The great thing about it, is the tracking device that shows you aliens lurking ahead or behind you. Watch out for those annoying huggers! Then the showdown with the Mother Queen Alien!

4. ALIEN 3 (SNES)

This SNES game is very challenging indeed, but the atmosphere, graphics and the gameplay is really addictive. You won’t put this game down in a hurry for sure!

5. ALIEN RESURRECTION (PS1) 

Another atmospheric and daunting game that will keep you playing for hours on end. The aliens in this one sure terrified me when I played it for the very first time.

 6. ALIEN vs. PREDATOR EXTINCTION (PS2)

I’ve added this to my list because I think it’s worth a mention. In my opinion a very underrated game.

7. DESTROY ALL HUMANS (PS2)

You control a character called Crypto, and you have to complete missions, which may be rather samey, but apart from that, it sure feels like a Retro game when you start playing it. Loads of roaming around and blasting everything to smithereens. There’s even a sequel to this game too! The graphics, sound and gameplay I find are top class.

8. JEFF WAYNE’S WAR OF THE WORLDS (PS1)

Now this game is also worth a mention as the PS1 version is great fun to play even though the final level is almost impossible to do. You control various vehicles at your disposal in aid to destroy the martians, and you collect certain items in some missions too. A bit tricky to master, but once you get the hang of the controls it’s well worth playing. What’s more, the game has Richard Burton narrating the introduction cut scene.

9. QUAKE 2 (PS1)

A great shoot ‘em up which does contain some aliens so worth a mention here!

10. DOOM (SNES)

Another classic shoot ‘em up which I definitely cannot put down once I start playing it. One time I kept on saying to myself, I’ll just play one more level. Once finished I said the same thing!! My favourite weapon has to be the machine gun, because it sounds so good when it gets fired. Haha.
