Overwatch 2 players plagued by LC-208 error

Since day one of Overwatch 2’s launch, there have been a ton of issues, glitches, connection errors and more. Unfortunately, while some of the days since release have been good, problems continue to overshadow the experience. Sadly, yet another hiccup seems to have hit the game, and this one popped up after a recent update.

Overwatch 2 players trying to get into the game right now may be hit with a server error with the code “LC-208.” This was an issue that reared its head at launch, yet it seems to have gotten considerably worse this week. Worst of all, there’s no official word on what’s causing the problem.

While fans wait for word from Blizzard, a few potential workarounds have been discovered. In particular, some players have found that entering the game’s firing range on PC, closing the game, and then logging in on Switch will clear the error code. Blizzard’s website also has a supposed fix for the LC-208 error, but it seems to be hit-and-miss. You can find the official recommendation from Blizzard below.

If your console account is linked with your Battle.net account, you need to have a BattleTag. If you have a BattleTag but your accounts are not linked, follow the connection steps linked below to resolve the error.

Note: If your Battle.net account is connected to your console account, disconnecting it and reconnecting can resolve the error.

  1. Check your network configuration to find any issues with your firewall, router, or port settings.
  2. Reset your network devices to make sure your router hasn’t become flooded with data.
  3. If you’re using a wireless connection, optimize your internet connection to rule out a connection issue.
  4. Run your console’s built-in connection test (Playstation 4) (Xbox One) (Nintendo Switch).
