Explore the Accessibility Options in God of War Ragnarok

Sony had gotten a lot of praise when they released The Last of Us Part II with groundbreaking accessibility features, and now it looks like they’re going to be doing the same with God of War Ragnarok.

We’ve known that Ragnarok will be getting some accessibility features way before launch, but now PlayStation has released a deep-dive into the feature and has given us a look at just how extensively you can customize the game to fit your needs. Watch this:

“Episode 4 of the God of War Ragnarök Behind the Scenes series will take you to Niflheim. This time we’ll be looking at the development philosophy and collaboration with the accessibility community that has helped make God of War Ragnarök the most accessible God of War yet.

I guess the real impressive thing about the accessibility mode is how specific it can get when it comes to treating a certain handicap. Besides high contrast mode, you also have subtitles for audio cues—these subs also come with a directional button to hint to the players where the sound is coming from.

Probably the most difficult thing to crack when it comes to accessibility is all the subtle things we can miss that seem like simple actions; and it seems that Santa Monica Studios has really taken an in-depth look, bringing in one-armed players or players that are hearing impaired.

As the conversation for accessibility in games continues to grow, it’s great that these AAA games are starting to put these features in the spotlight.

God of War Ragnarok is now available for PlayStation 4|5.
