How to Evolve Aipom into Ambipom in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
In the game, certain Pokemon have special requirements for them to evolve. One of these Pokemon is Aipom, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Aipom into an Ambipom!
Aipom into Ambipom
Ambipom is a Normal-type Long Tail Pokemon with a purple body that looks like that of a monkey’s, two large, light brown, and round-tipped tails that look like hands with three fingers with red tips, two splitting hairs at the top of its head, a light brown face, a nose that looks like an upside-down letter ‘V,’ and two wide eyes. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Ambipoms will form a ring by linking their two tails to affirm their kinship. Also, humans have been accepted into these Ambipom rings on rare occasions.
Ambipom can be found in the Cobalt Coastlands (in Aipom Hill and Hideaway Bay) and in the Alabaster Icelands (in Arena’s Approach, Avalanche Slopes, and Heart’s Crag). Ambipom can be found in this location at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Aside from that, Ambipom may also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands and the Alabaster Icelands or inside Space-Time Distortions.
An alternative for catching an Ambipom is through evolution. To do that, the player must evolve an Aipom after it learns the move Double Hit. First, the player should know where to find an Aipom.
Aipom
The player can also find an Aipom in the Obsidian Fieldlands (in Ramanas Island), in the Cobalt Coastlands (in Aipom Hill and Hideaway Bay), and in the Alabaster Icelands (in Whiteout Valley, Avalanche Slopes, Arena’s Approach, Glacier Terrace, and in Heart’s Crag). Aipom can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Aside from that, Aipom can be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands and the Alabaster Icelands.
If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Aipom’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
If you plan on battling an Aipom first before catching it, it is worth noting that Aipom is a Normal-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).
Double Hit
Now that the player has caught an Aipom, one of the methods to evolve an Aipom to an Ambipom is by letting the Aipom learn Double Hit.
Double Hit is a Normal-type status move where the Pokemon who is using the move adopts a hard-hitting stance to increase the damage output of the user’s moves by 50 percent.
Aipom will learn the move Double Hit when Aipom reaches Level 25. The player can level up Aipom by battling against other Pokemon, using Rare Candies, and using Exp. Candies.
Once Aipom has learned Double Hit, the player should then equip the move to the Pokemon’s move set. To do that, this is what the player must do:
- First, press the up-directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Then, select Aipom in the player’s party, which is on the right side of the Satchel.
- Next, on the prompt, select ‘Change moves.’
- After that, select ‘Double Hit’ on the unequipped moves on the left side, then select a move on Aipom’s move set on the right side to replace Double Hit with.
- Next, press the X button to confirm the change, then confirm on the prompt that you are happy with the new move set.
After that, Aipom can now use Double Hit in battle!
Finally, Ambipom!
After catching an Aipom and letting it learn Double Hit, the player can now evolve an Aipom into an Ambipom! To do that, this is what the player must do:
- If it is not already there, put the player’s Aipom in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
- Then, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Select the player’s Aipom, which has a glowing Poke Ball beside its name indicating that the Pokemon is ready to evolve. Select Evolve on the prompt, confirm on the next prompt to evolve Aipom, then just like that, Aipom will evolve into an Ambipom!
Now that the player has an Ambipom, the player can now try to use the Ambipom to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for the player which is to catch ‘em all!
