How to Evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

In the game, there are certain Pokemon that players cannot catch or are hard to catch in the wild. One of these Pokemon is Porygon-Z, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Porygon2 into a Porygon-Z! One of the methods to catch these Pokemon is through evolution.

Porygon2 into Porygon-Z

Porygon-Z is a Normal type Virtual Pokemon with an oval Fuschia and blue body, a floating, ovoid-shaped Fuschia head with a short antenna on top, and a blue bill that looks like a duck’s bill, round yellow eyes with a black ring, an oval body with a blue ring around it, blue arms, and a blue tail. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Porygon-Z’s offensive abilities have greatly increased, but its behavior is getting stranger at the same rate.

Porygon-Z actually cannot be found anywhere in the wild.  The only way the player can find a Porygon-Z is through Space-Time Distortions in the Crimson Mirelands. However, Porygon-Z is very rare in the area’s space-time distortions. So, the surefire way to catch a Porygon-Z is through evolution. The player must evolve a Porygon2 using a Dubious Disc to do that. First, the player should know where to find a Porygon2.

Porygon2

The player also cannot find a Porygon2 in the wild. However, they can also be found in Space-Time Distortions in the Crimson Mirelands and are rare. Space-Time Distortions can appear at any time of the day and in every weather condition.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Porygon’s preferred foods are Crunchy Salts.

Suppose you plan on battling a Porygon2 first before catching it, which is more likely as Porygon2 is found in Space-Time Distortions. In that case, it is worth noting that Porygon2 is a Normal-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

An easier way of catching a Porygon2 is by catching a Porygon first, which can also be found in Space-Time Distortions in the Crimson Mirelands and a very common find, and evolving it into a Porygon2 using the item called Upgrade. The upgrade can be bought from the Trading Post for 1000 Merit Points and can be found on the ground inside Space-Time Distortions.

Dubious Disc

Now that the player has caught a Porygon, all that is needed to evolve a Porygon2 into Porygon-Z is a Dubious Disc. There are several ways that the player can obtain a Dubious Disc:

The player can purchase a Dubious Disc for 10,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop in between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it a Transparent Mechanism. Unfortunately, the items that the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same all the time so the purchasable items may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.

Also, the player can purchase a Dubious Disc from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for only 1400 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.

Other than that, the player may find some Upgrades on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so make sure to check out the items inside them

Out of all the methods mentioned above, the easiest way to obtain a Dubious Disc is by purchasing one from the Trading Post for 1400 Merit Points.

Finally, Porygon-Z!

After catching a Porygon2 and obtaining a Dubious Disc, the player can now evolve a Porygon2 into a Porygon-Z!

To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. Put the player’s Porygon2 in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
  2. Then, make sure that the Dubious Disc is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Upgrade to the player’s Satchel.
  3. After that, return to the game and press the up-directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  4. Select the Upgrade, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Porygon2 from the player’s party to use the Upgrade on Porygon2.
  5. Confirm the prompt to evolve Porygon2. Then, just like that, Porygon2 will evolve into a Porygon-Z!

Now that the player has a Porygon-Z, the player can now try to use the Porygon-Z to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ’em all!
