Diablo Immortal: Terror's Tide Major Update brings a new Zone, Helliquary Updates, limited-time events, and more

The second major update for Diablo Immortal is finally here, and Blizzard did not disappoint – Terror’s Tide will feature a whole new Zone called Stormpoint that will add a new storyline and some exciting new content through a brand new Questline, plus players are also getting five new Legendary Gems, the ability to customize their character’s facial features, a brand new Battle Pass, huge Helliquary changes, limited-time events, and more.

There’s a lot to digest in this new update, so buckle up, we’ll walk you through the most important updates you can expect from Terror’s Tide in Diablo Immortal in this guide.

Stormpoint

MMOARPG games such as Diablo Immortal are all about their endgame content. After most players complete the main storyline, they’ll be busy building up their characters and participating in PvE or PvP events.

It’s pretty rare for games of this genre to have additional storyline content added later on in the game’s life cycle, which is why the addition of Stormpoint likely came as a surprise to everyone.

The Major Update brings in a new Zone called Stormpoint that comes with a new Questline that will push the game’s story forward. The new Zone offers new content such as 20 new monsters, new bosses and minibosses, and lots of crabs according to the devs.

Despite bringing a continuation to the game’s main storyline, Stormpoint will not be immediately accessible to all players in Diablo Immortal. To travel to Stormpoint, players first need to reach Hell III, Level 60, and have completed the Starsign quest.

Helliquary Updates

With the Major Update, Blizzard is bringing in changes, expansions, and reworks to the Helliquary.

Now, players can go on solo Heliquarry Raids on any difficulty, but you might want to call for help anyway, as the devs are increasing the difficulty of Heliquary bosses for each Hell Difficulty.

You can unlock more Hell Difficulties, but you have to defeat the corresponding Helliquary bosses to unlock them first. The good news is that you can now party up with other players in Hell I-IV but choose your teammates carefully, as the difficulty of each dungeon increases relative to each party member’s Hell difficulty.

New Legendary Gems

Blizzard is bringing in five new Legendary Gems to give players more options in their character builds. This time around, Blizzard is focusing on Loss of Control and Area of Effect elements for the new Legendary Gems.

Heartstone (1-star) – The duration of your absorb shields is increased by 36%, and they also reduce the duration of Loss of Control effects by 24% while active.

Kir Sling (2-star) – You have a 15% chance when attacked to release a burst of light that Blinds all nearby enemies, reducing their vision and causing total Loss of Control for four seconds. It cannot occur more often than once every 20 seconds. You also deal 14% increased damage to Blinded enemies.

Volatility Shard (2-star) – When you defeat an enemy, you trigger a volatile explosion dealing 90% base damage +365 to all nearby enemies while granting yourself 8% increased damage for two seconds. Cannot occur more often than once every six seconds.

Concentrated Will (5-star) – Using a Dash skill calls a guardian angel to your aid, unleashing a blast of holy light in your direction, dealing 135% base damage +547 to all enemies in the path. When the guardian angel returns to the High Heavens, it blesses you, increasing your damage and Movement Speed by 16% for two seconds. It cannot occur more often than once every six seconds.

Hellfire Fragment (5-star) – Using a skill conjures three hellfire blazes around you to seek out enemies within six yards, exploding on them, dealing 108% base damage +510 to all nearby enemies. Enemies struck by multiple hellfire blazes take 50% additional damage from subsequent hits. Cannot occur more often than once every 20 seconds.

A Barber? In Westmarch?!

Before the Major Update, players were stuck with whatever class, gender, and look they assigned to their Diablo Immortal character in the character creation screen. There was no way to change head cosmetic elements such as hairstyle and skin tone.

With the introduction of the second Major Update, players can now change their character’s face, hairstyle, and skin tone, plus a fourth face option that will give players greater flexibility and customization options for their characters in Diablo Immortal.

When the Major Update drops on December 13-14, players can start paying Yaira the Barber a visit in Westmarch and get a free re-customization every seven days.

Season 8 Battle Pass

The new Season 8 Battle Pass features all the usual loot from the previous Battle Pass, such as Enchanted Dust, Scrap Materials, Aspirant’s Keys, and more, plus new “The Hidden Sun” cosmic-themed cosmetics.

Like the previous seven Battle Passes in Diablo Immortal, players can progress through 40 ranks of challenges in the Season 8 Battle Pass from January 19, 2:59 a.m. server time.

Diablo Immortal Lucky Draw – Sacred Wilds Phantom Market

Blizzard knows the demand for cosmetic items and other vanities in Diablo Immortal is high, which is why they have added a limited-time Lucky Draw mechanic called the Sacred Wilds Phantom Market, to give players an alternative source for Cosmetic Sets, Weapon Sets, Emojis, and other in-game vanities.

Blizzard has also added a new in-game currency called Obols, exclusive to the Sacred Wilds Phantom Market. Players can purchase Obols using Eternal Orbs and use the currency to purchase and draw random items from the Phantom Market. Performing one draw will increase the price of the next draw, but Blizzard guarantees that players will receive all the items listed below on the 10th draw.

  • Contempt Emoji: 30.00%
  • Despair Emoji: 30.00%
  • Battleground Brawl Amythyst Armor Cosmetic: 8.13%
  • Battleground Brawl Amythyst Weapon Cosmetic: 8.13%
  • Battleground Brawl Lapis Armor Cosmetic: 8.13%
  • Battleground Brawl Lapis Weapon Cosmetic: 8.13%
  • Winged Darkness Azure Armor Cosmetic: 2.57%
  • Winged Darkness Azure Weapon Cosmetic: 2.57%
  • Sacred Wilds Portal Cosmetic: 2.20%
  • Sacred Wilds Cosmetic Set: 0.14%

Note: The drop rates listed above are for first-draw only.

Among the items up for grabs in the Phantom Market is Diablo Immortal’s first-ever cross-class cosmetic set called the Sacred Wilds Cosmetic Set. As a cross-class set, players can use this cosmetic set in any class they wish. The Sacred Wilds Cosmetic set even comes with its Cosmetic Emoji that adds a neat visual effect to your killstreaks in Diablo Immortal.

The Phantom Market ends on January 11 at 2:59 a.m. server time, so make sure you use up most of your Obols by then. Don’t worry if you don’t end up using all your Obols, as these will be converted to Eternal Orbs when the limited-time market ends.

Limited Time Events

The Major Update will bring two limited-time events – the Brumaltine Holiday Event and the recurring Hungering Moon limited-time event.

To celebrate the holidays, Blizzard threw in a new limited-time event called the Brumaltine Holiday Event which runs from December 14, 3:00 a.m. to January 4, 3:00 a.m. Players can complete up to three daily tasks for rewards and log in every weekend to receive Brumaltine gifts or trade greeting cards with friends.

The other limited-time event that will grace Season 8 in Diablo Immortal is the Hungering Moon limited-time event which many players will be familiar with by now.

Complete up to three event tasks daily from December 29, 3:00 a.m. to January 2, 3:00 a.m. server time to gain Astrolabe Power. Gain enough Astrolabe Power to draw Blessing of Magic or Blessing of Might which you can use to gain Moonslivers and claim event rewards.
