Pokemon Scarlet: Great Tusk the Quaking Earth Titan Guide

Here, we will talk about defeating the Titan Pokemon, which are part of the ‘Path of Legends’ quest line given by Arven, and in this guide, we will talk about defeating Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan!

Location

The Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan can be found in the western part of the Asado Desert (or south of Porto Marinada or west of Cascarrafa), and the Asado Desert can be found in the western part of the Paldea Region in the northwest of the Great Crater of Paldea. Great Tusk can only be found in the Pokemon Scarlet version. The Iron Treads is equivalent to the Great Tusk in the Pokemon Violet version.

Great Tusk, The Quaking Earth Titan

As the player would have to battle against Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, it is worth noting that Great Tusk is a Ground and Fighting-type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness to Fairy type, Flying type, Grass type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Water-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Poison-type, and especially Rock-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Electric-type moves (no effect).

Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, will use the following moves: Knock Off, which is a physical Dark-type move with 65 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also removes the opposing Pokemon’s held item, which prevents the Pokemon from using it and the damage is increased by 50% if that is successful, Rapid Spin, which is a physical Normal-type move with 20 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, removes the moves that trap Pokemon and increases the Speed stat of the user by one stage, Brick Break, which is a physical Fighting-type move with 75 Power and 90 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also destroys the protective barriers that are in play, and Stomping Tantrum, which is a Ground-type physical move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy that will double the damage dealt if the Pokemon using the move’s previous move failed.

Aside from its moves, Great Tusk the Quaking Earth Titan has an Ability called Photosynthesis which will boost its highest stat by 30% if the highest stat is Attack, Defense, Sp. Attack, or Sp. Defense or by 50% if the highest stat is Speed, but this will only activate if Harsh Sunlight is active or the Great Tusk is holding a Booster Energy.

It is recommended that the player use a Pokemon with Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Water-type moves that are Level 44 and above against Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan. One of the best Pokemon to use against the Great Tusk is Gyarados as it is a Water and Flying type Pokemon with those types of moves, a resistance to Fighting type moves which the Great Tusk has, and an immunity to Ground-type moves, which the Great Tusk also has.

Unfortunately for one of the starter Pokemon, Fuecoco, as it is a Fire-type Pokemon, its main Fire-type moves only deal an average amount of damage against Great Tusk unless it has other types of moves that deal super effective damage. As for Sprigatito and Quaxly, as they are Grass type and Water type Pokemon, their main type moves are super effective against Great Tusk.

These Pokemon that can be found early game can also be good against Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, granted that they are at a high enough level: Golduck (Water-type), Azumarill (Water and Fairy-type), Floatzel (Water-type), Murkrow (Dark and Flying-type), Fletchling (Normal and Flying-type), Fletchinder (Fire and Flying-type), Rookidee (Flying-type), Corvisquire (Flying-type), Wattrel (Electric and Flying-type), Swablu (Normal and Flying-type), Starly (Normal and Flying-type), Staravia (Normal and Flying-type), Squawkabilly (Normal and Flying-type), Rufflet (Normal and Flying-type), Skiddo (Grass-type), and Bounsweet (Grass-type), and Steenee (Grass-type).

Unfortunately, the player will not be able to catch Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, while battling it and the only option is to defeat it. However, after that, when it is back to its regular form, you can find a Great Tusk in the area, which the player would have to interact with using the A button to battle instead of throwing one of your Pokemon at it like other Pokemon. In this form, the player will now be able to catch it. After catching it, Great Tusk will have a special mark and the title “Former Titan,” which means that it is the actual Quaking Earth Titan but has reverted to its regular form. It is worth noting that if the player accidentally defeats the Great Tusk in this form, the Former Titan Pokemon will no longer appear in the area.

Battle 1

The player can see Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, from afar on the western part of the Asado Desert. Simply approach the Quaking Earth Titan, and a battle against it will commence!

Professor Sada will then call the player and explain that the Great Tusk is a Pokemon from the Great Crater of Paldea, then ask the player to do whatever is needed to subdue it.

After almost defeating it, Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, will halt the battle, stomp the ground, disappear, and reappear on the southwestern part of the area near the side of a cliff., strike the wall, and start eating something.

Battle 2

Approach the Great Tusk on the southwestern part of the area, and the Quaking Earth Titan will strike the side of the cliff behind it and then start eating something. After that, Arven will arrive and wonder if Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan was even a Pokemon and that it must be trying to get pumped up with its little snack. Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, will then go near Arven and the player with an aura surrounding it and start another battle.

In this next battle, Great Tusk the Quaking Earth Titan’s HP will be full again, but this time Arven and his Pokemon, Scovillain, will help the player out.

After comprehensively defeating Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, it will revert to its regular form, and a cutscene will play where the player and Arven will enter the opening at the side of the cliff that the Great Tusk created to check for some Sour Herba Mystica which Arven will find inside. Arven will then thank the player and explain that Sour Herba Mystica is full of nutrients and great for boosting overall health. After that, Arven will set up a picnic and make sandwiches with the Sour Herba Mystica for himself and the player. To thank the player, Arven will also give the player a Ground Titan Badge, which he made using a replica of Gym Badges, for defeating the Quaking Earth Titan.

While they are having a picnic, the player’s Koraidon will take an interest in the sandwich made with the Sour Herba Mystica. Confirm on the prompt to give the player’s sandwich to Koraidon, and the player’s Koraidon will suddenly glow and will now be able to glide in the air!

Now that the player has defeated Great Tusk, the Quaking Earth Titan, the player is one step closer to fulfilling the player’s Koraidon and Miraidon’s true potential and completing the ‘Path of Legends’ quest line!
