Japan’s sales chart Jan 16-22, 2023: Fire Emblem Engage debuts on top

The latest sales data from Japan is in, and there’s no surprise for guessing last week’s top seller. The launch of Fire Emblem Engage led to the sale of 144,558 physical copies in Nintendo’s homeland. This pushed long-time top-seller Pokémon Scarlet/Violet into second position.

Nintendo rounded out the top ten with the likes of Splatoon 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Mario Party Superstars. In fact, nine of the top ten titles were Switch titles.

In hardware, the three Switch versions came in second, third, and fourth place for a combined 51,587 sales. This technically pushes the Switch to the top spot across its OLED, original, and Lite versions.

You can check out the top-thirty titles below to see what made waves in Japan last week. Were you suprised by any of the numbers?
