You’re Cookin’ Good Lookin’ solves the question of who’s making dinner tonight in the best way possible: by beating the heck out of each other.
Beatrix just got home from an exhausting day at work. Mio has been wide awake and tired since 4am. Neither of them feels like they have the energy to cook, but this loving couple DOES have enough energy to start a fistfight over who’s cooking. You just need to decide which side of this culinary battle you want to take, then head into the ring (kitchen) to battle your beloved. This might sound extreme, but the pair are cooking professionals. They do this stuff all day. How much would YOU want to cook all day, only to come home and cook again? You’d fight someone over it. I guarantee it.
This is a fairly simple fighting game, but extremely impressive as a game jam title made for Yuri Jam 2022. You can pick either character and fight against the computer. Each has a neat six button moveset you can pull from, each having strikes that work at a variety of ranges. These do different attacks whether you’re standing or crouching, and you’ll want to experiment with these as distancing is vital in this game. There’s no jumping, so footwork and move spacing is all that will save you from cooking tonight. Their moves vary from being brutal punches and kicks to utilizing kitchen implements in creative ways. you can get some pretty solid range on a rolling pin.
You’re Cookin’ Good Lookin’ is a simple fighter, but the character animations and clever, cooking-inspired moves give it a lot of charm. And again, challenging someone to a fight is a pretty solid way to figure out who’s making dinner tonight.
