‘Dawngrown’ Brings Growth and Happiness With a Bubble Gun
Dawngrown has you helping folks cleanse their corrupt thoughts by hosing those nasty ideas down with bubbles, bringing beauty and harmony back to their minds.
Our froggy village healer only has a couple of plans for when bad thoughts pollute your mind, but they all work pretty well. The first tool is a bubble gun. While bubbles might not seem like they’ll be terribly effective in improving your mental state if you’re older than five, they apparently work very well if you spray them from inside someone’s thoughts. So, you’ll spend a lot of time walking through the woods of the mind, finding patches of gross, mean thoughts to hose down with your healing bubbles. As you do so, the corruption will retreat and folks will start to feel better.
Corruption tends to do lasting damage, though. The land isn’t in great shape after you get the corruption to leave. So, now you need to water the plants and grasses to bring them back to a lush green life. Doing so reminded me of playing Flower to an extent, as it’s always lovely watching a natural world spring back to life. In this game, you also get a splash of items that you can spend on upgrading your healing tools to be more effective. It’s good to have a strong healing sword for those tough, murderous puddles of corruption. I guess bubbles can’t clean everything up in this world, so having an upgraded sword is a handy idea.
Dawngrown is a light, but charming journey through people’s darker thoughts and offers a playful way to make people feel better. I’m not sure how much it would help to spray my loved ones with bubbles, but the game does make it feel like it’s worth a shot.
Dawngrown is available now on itch.io and Steam.
