It’s an All-Out Kaiju Battle in Gameplay for Final Fantasy XVI
Giant monsters battling each other has kind of been the hook for next Final Fantasy mainline entry, and thanks to IGN, we have 12 minutes of gameplay that showcases a huge kaiju fight between monsters Ifrit and Garuda.
Check this out:
Though we do get an extensive kaiju battle scene with Garuda and Ifrit, I think players are going to be spending most of the game fighting in their human form, and it shows when Clive is fighting Garuda in the first part of the footage.
Once we get the Ifrit though, we can see just how massive and cinematic the game is aiming to be. Then again, this is the Final Fantasy franchise we’re talking about, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Square Enix was going to make it chockfull of spectacle.
Hopefully we get a more detailed look at the gameplay soon. Then again, we have three months to steadily build up the hype for the release in June.
Here’s the description for the game:
An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them.
This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
Final Fantasy XVI launches for the PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023.
