‘Danghost’ Exorcises Cute Ghosts by Matching Colors
Danghost sees exorcists capturing ghosts of similar colors in chains of hauntings. You’ll just need to be sure you’re using the right colored jar, too.
There have been a large number of matching games created since the dawn of gaming, so it’s rare for me to find a new one that really feels worth mentioning. With that in mind, Danghost is one of these instances. In it, you throw out spirits, connect them, then bottle them up in order to remove them from the play field.
The ghosts in Danghost quite adorable and brightly-colored. These ghosts connect by touching each other, and they can connect this way from a bunch of different angles. You’re going to want to drop a jar of the right color onto these groups of ghosts to capture every connected phantom of the same color. You can also drop jars that are not connected to any of the matching ghosts. Should you capture the ghosts around the jar and it drops down on top of some ghosts it CAN capture, you’ll get a combo.
Throughout the game, you’ll battle against other exorcists who have their own pile of ghosts to deal with. Getting massive combos and using spells can make things more complex for those who are trying to out-do you, which is all a part of the story. The story is delivered in story blocks that follow the story of an individual who has been at exorcism school for quite some time, yet never passed their tests. You do seem to be good at actually getting rid of the ghosts (which have started coming in massive numbers lately). Your opponents don’t always think too highly of your skills, though.
These bits of story breaks up the gameplay, making it feel less repetitive. The entire game itself also feels really pleasant with lots of details in the design that feel very polished. From what I’ve seen in this preview, Danghost has a lot going for it.
