Gaming is GOOD – it’s OFFICIAL!

Airports in the 80s and 90s used to be full of many arcades. There are some still around but in Sweden they did one better – Retro Arcade gaming for charity.

When you think about it you’re often in an Airport with nothing to do but mooch about the Duty Free or sit in the bar (which is not necessarily that bad!) or just plug into you ipod. Then you get the delays sometimes and really for a gamer what is there to do? Sure you can play your handhelds…

But what about if the Airport provided some retro arcade entertainment experience and more. Well in Sweden they have done just that. You can play “Ms. Pac-Man,” “Space Invaders” and “Galaga. but there’s more to the story than meets the eye:

The clever Swedes have done it again with design thinking and also with goodwill and charity in mind. Sweden’s two largest airports Stockholm Arlanda and Goteborg Landvetter have a cool setup of retro arcade machines. These ingeniously take any currency (Dollars, Pounds, Yen, Euros – anything) and convert them into gaming credits for you to play. The cool bit is all that cash with no taxes goes to the Red Cross Charity in Sweden.

So gaming can be good – but we all know that already. But this is clear to see.

Let’s hope other country Airports do this too.
