‘Botany Manor’ Aims to Understand Plant Needs
Botany Manor is a narrative puzzle game where you are looking to grow various plants, learn about them, and hopefully use their qualities to help the world around you.
Going back to 19th century England, you play as Arabella Greene, a retired botanist who is looking to fix the smog issues in the world. To do so, you’ll start working around your massive manor home. The manor is quite historical looking, and you will be unlocking new areas, new machinery, and finding new seeds to sow into your plant pots. These plants, once grown, are documented in a book so that you can read all of their properties and understand them.
The way that you make these different seeds grows depends on the seeds themselves. There are a bunch of different clues to help you, though. Post cards, newspapers, pictures, and more items give you hints and things to try when it comes to making them grow. Some need light, for example, while others need the wind hitting them to be a very specific temperature. Figuring out these details is vital to getting your flowers and plants to grow well, if at all.
You will also be unlocking new rooms and areas in and outside your home as you explore and work your way through your plant puzzles, which can teach you more about Arabella and her career as a woman in a scientific field during that time. Arabella’s own life is a bit of a side puzzle in this game, as you’ll slowly grow to understand her life as you further understand your plants.
Botany Manor is a well-made puzzle game with a cozy feel to it. Growing the various plants feels satisfying and fun. Plus, learning more of the story keeps things interest along the way.
Botany Manor is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
