Nintendo changing the name of Foreman Spike in Japan

While Foreman Spike doesn’t make too many appearances in Nintendo’s games, he does pop up in the Super Mario Bros. movie. While those of us in NA/EU have known the character as Foreman Spike for years now, Nintendo is changing the name he goes by in Japan.

For those who don’t know, Foreman Spike from Wrecking Crew is actually named Blackie in Japan. Starting with the Super Mario Bros. movie, Nintendo has officially done away with the name Blackie in Japan. That means the character will now be officially referred to as Foreman Spike in all regions.

The Super Mario Bros. movie hasn’t launched in Japan yet, but it’s due out on April 28th, 2023. That means Japanese fans will have to wait just over a week more before they see Foreman Spike’s big screen debut.
