Turn Your Chromebook Into A Portable Retro Gaming Station With Batocera

In this video we’ll look at how to Turn Your Chromebook Into A Portable Retro Gaming Station With Batocera.

To get started, you’ll need to make sure that you have an Intel-based Chromebook. After that, you’ll need to make sure that you modify your BIOS to be able to boot from a USB drive. If you don’t know how to do that, be sure you go watch this video before you do anything else with this video:

Now that you can boot from a USB stick, let’s get into this.

First, you need to create a bootable Batocera USB. You can download the .img file from their website here:

Make sure you download the appropriate .img file for your system. If you have a 32bit processor, then download the 32bit .img file. If you have a 64bit processor, download the 64bit version.

Be sure to extract the .img file from the .gz file you just downloaded.

Use Etcher or Win32DiskImager or whatever you prefer to create the bootable USB drive.

Insert the USB into your Chromebook and turn it on. It should boot into the Batocera interface.

Be sure to connect to the internet as shown in the video.

Then go into the system settings and select the installation option. Select your Chomebook’s hard drive, the correct architecture, and then select the option to let the system know that you really want to install.

The installation process will take a few minutes to download the necessary files and install them. Once it’s done, take the USB drive out and reboot.

Once back in the system, you can connect back to your internet connection to move ROMs to your device. Also be sure to setup your game controller so you can play your games.

That’s it!

Be sure to follow your local laws when looking for and downloading ROMs for your gaming station.
