Team behind Android Switch emulator halt development

Following the leak of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo has been cranking up efforts to squash not just pirated copies of games, but also emulators. This renewed threat of legal action has caused one Switch emulator team to call it quites.

Skyline was a Switch emulator for Android devices, and following Nintendo’s DMCA takedown on GitHub, including the Lockpick tool, the team behind the project is calling off work. You can see the team’s message below.

While teams like the one behind Skyline have decided to step away from active development, you can bet other teams will see Nintendo’s actions and use them as fuel for the fire. Nintendo has been playing this cat-and-mouse game for decades, and there’s no doubt they’ll keep putting up millions to do so.
