A LIVE A LIVE sequel was considered for the DS
LIVE A LIVE released on the Super Famicom back in 1994, and it would take nearly 3 decades for the game to see release worldwide via a Switch remake. Turns out fans around the world almost had the chance to experience LIVE A LIVE earlier than that, but through a sequel.
Famitsu magazine spoke with LIVE A LIVE director Takashi Tokita to get some insight into the game’s development, which is when a discussion of a sequel came up. While nothing is in the works right now, Tokita revealed that the team at Square Enix set out to plan a follow-up title for the DS.
Unfortunately for Tokita, it appears he couldn’t convince Square Enix proper that creating a LIVE A LIVE sequel was a good idea business-wise, so the project never really got off the ground. Thankfully, Square Enix finally came around to show LIVE A LIVE some love once again, which is how we got to the HD-2D Switch remake.
