We’re checking out an indie VR game current in a demo state called Undead Development. The game has a really interesting concept in that you go to scavenge items and goods in between waves of zombies so that you can literally build up your base with traps, defenses and the like. The difference is you LITERALLY BUILD. You have a hammer, you have an axe, you bust things down, then hammer them in place to create various structures and defenses that you use to try and prevent yourself from becoming zombie food.

ABOUT: Undead Development

Undead Development is a zombie survival game with a creative building system for the HTC Vive.

This demo shows off the the introductory level where you can scavenge for loot, break apart furniture, board up your home, and defend against the undead. Use the dynamic nailing system to come up with creative ways to defend yourself.

This demo is in beta. The gameplay features are all implemented but I am still polishing mechanics and finding issues. Let me know if you find problems or think something should change to improve gameplay. Once I fix major issues and polish some mechanics I will start developing more content (lots more weapons/tools and bigger levels) to eventually release an early access version onto Steam.

Known Issues:

Pausing the game when enabling controllers can cause both hands to map onto one controller. Restart the game while both controllers are already turned on.
Some colliders will not line up with the art making nailing awkward.
You can lose items to the floor a bit too easily.
Pushing the nailing system to its limits (however small) and you’ll probably get some weird stuff happening.
