Ghost Trick producer says fan requests for a remake helped bring the game back

Ghost Trick was critically lauded when it first arrived on the DS 13 years ago, and those gamers who played it loved the title as well. The game may not have been a huge financial success, but it was clear the experience was something special.

Fast-forward 13 years and people now have multiple ways to experience Ghost Trick once again, as the game has come to Switch and other modern platforms. Believe it or not, it was the fan support for the original game that paved the way for this remake.

In an interview with Famitsu, Ghost Trick producer Shingo Izumi was asked if it was the passionate fans that made Ghost Trick’s revamp reality. According to Izumi, back in 2020 Ghost Trick ranked first on a list of titles fans wanted to see a remake for, and it placed far ahead of the second most-requested game. It was this enthusiastic response that convinced Capcom that a remake was in order.
