New Mortal Kombat 1 trailer brings back a divisive Mortal Kombat 11 character – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews

Another trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 has dropped. Titled the Keepers of Time, this trailer focuses heavily on Liu Kang and a returning character from Mortal Kombat 11: Geras, the former right-hand man of Kronika.

In this new timeline, it seems Geras is an ally of Liu Kang, and we get a pretty good look at his fighting style. Geras still looks to be a heavy-hitter, but more importantly, he has some excellent storyline potential, unlike Mortal Kombat 11 where most fans thought he was quite underwhelming.

Geras will be joining the likes of Tanya, Lei Mi and Baraka, as well as Smoke and Rain. So far the roster is shaping up pretty well, though I’m a little saddened that Reptile isn’t making his grand comeback. At least, not yet.

No other playable characters were confirmed in the trailer. Still, there is a very brief glimpse of fan-favourite Kano making an appearance as a Kameo fighter, so I’ve added him to the list of fighters and Kameo fighters that are going to be in Mortal Kombat 1 when it launches in September. Special mention has to go to Liu Kang’s utterly insane black-hole fatality which might be one of the coolest and most creative finishers ever seen in the series, and that’s saying something.
