Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 returns with a new developer

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was first announced back in 2019, with developer Hardsuit Labs leading the charge. Since that announcement, the game appears to have been in development hell, with key members of staff departing the project and the action-RPG seeing delayed multiple delays. Now, Paradox Interactive has announced that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be developed by Dear Esther and Little Orpheus studio The Chinese Room and that you’ll be able to start unlocking the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 achievements when the action-RPG launches in fall 2024.

On taking over the development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, studio director Ed Daly said in a press release, “Vampire: The Masquerade holds a special place in our hearts. The story world’s dark setting, filled with intricate narratives built on top of modern society, perfectly fits our studio’s catalog.

“Bloodlines 2 is our most ambitious project to date. Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting this game, and we are up to the challenge. We are bringing more than 15 years of award-winning experience to the project, creating a game that honors the legacy of its predecessor while bringing its gameplay to the modern era.”

Sean Greaney, vice president of World of Darkness at publisher Paradox Interactive, added, “We were immediately impressed when we saw The Chinese Room’s proposal for Bloodlines 2. They have a true passion for the source material, making them ideal partners to develop a story in the Vampire: The Masquerade setting that resonates with players.

Paradox says that a gameplay reveal for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will take place in January.

In June, Paradox canceled preorders of the Collector’s Edition of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 and some physical products.
