Nacon announces Revolution 5 controller for PS5, PS4 and PC – WGB, Home of AWESOME Reviews

If you’re in the market for a premium PlayStation controller, Nacon may have you covered with their new Revolution 5 Pro controller, compatible with PS4, PS5 and PC.

This new model in the Revolution line is the culmination of years of development and NACON’s passion for gaming. We wanted to create the best controller possible, a controller that would give gamers the upper hand. The Revolution 5 Pro combines the best of our expertise, technological innovation and ergonomics,” said Yannick Allaert, Head of Accessories Division at NACON. “I want to thank Sony Interactive Entertainment, our long-time partner, who has enabled us to develop this product in the best way possible.”

Key features of the new controller include Hall effect joysticks and triggers, equating to a longer lifespan and no risk of the dreaded stick drift. This is achieved by using magnets and sensors to detect voltages to track the movement of the sticks rather than the traditional potentiometers.

The controller also packs three sets of weights to help customise the feel, three sets of stick sizes and three stick tips.

On top of that, there are adjustable triggers so that you can change how far they can be pulled, perfect for FPS games. There are several customisable buttons on the rear that can be modified using the official app on PC, a potentially great feature when playing any game with a more complex control scheme.

As for connection options, it comes with an RF key and a USB-C to USB-A cable and can connect to headphones using Bluetooth 5.2.

All in all, Nacon promises at least 10 hours of gameplay which puts it on par with the official PlayStation 5 controller which is typically 6-12 hours, depending on the game.

It also comes in a little carry case, too.

By far my biggest hope with the Revolution 5, though, is the ergonomics. Like quite a lot of other people, I actually find that the PS5 controller causes hand cramps, so any alternative is interesting.

However, all this does come with a substantial price tag. The Revolution 5 will be available in December in North America and October in Europe for a whopping €229.90/$199.99. It’s a big ask for most people, and yet like most premium products, there will probably be plenty of folks willing to pay for the extra features the Revolution 5 promises.
