A Cyberpunk 2077 “live-action” project is in the works
This Cyberpunk live-action thing, whatever it is, is being made in collaboration with global media company Anonymous Content, best known for acclaimed shows like True Detective and Mr. Robot, along with Academy Award-winning films including The Revenant and Spotlight.
It’s not going to follow the plot of the game Cyberpunk 2077, but instead it will be a “brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.” The announcement says that the project is in the “early development stage” and given that it states that they don’t even have the writer nailed down yet, it’s safe to say that this one is a while off. Whoever they do hire will end up working closely alongside the Cyberpunk 2077 creative team to build out the story and keep it true to their vision of Night City.
This isn’t CD Projekt Red’s first foray into multimedia adaptations of Cyberpunk – there was the highly successful Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which was adored by critics and fans alike. But there’s certainly something different about a live-action show, and we can’t wait to see what the team can pull off in this universe. Here’s hoping for a Keanu Reeves cameo.
