Halo Infinite Season 5 adds popular Halo 4 mode, new Arena maps, and more

Halo Infinite Season 5, entitled Reckoning, will bring a slew of new content to the game’s multiplayer when it launches on October 17. The headline feature is a “reimagined” version of Halo 4’s Extraction mode, but there are also new Arena maps on the way and a complete rework of the game’s Battle Pass.

For those unfamiliar with Extraction from Halo 4, it’s an objective-based mode where two teams of five race to extract crates from the map by planting a beacon and defending it from the opposing team until the extraction is completed. We’re not sure how “reimagined” Extraction will be in Halo Infinite, but it will be interesting to see what 343 Industries has in store for the mode.

Elsewhere, two new Arena maps are coming: Prism and Forbidden. Set in a cave system, Prism features giant glowing Needler crystals that can be destroyed for environmental kills, whereas Forbidden is set in an “ancient, mysterious stone ruin.”

Season 5 also brings new Flood-inspired cosmetics, just in time for spooky season, and a big addition for all the Forge fans out there: a new Forge AI toolkit that will allow players to create their own PvE experiences. This looks awesome and could lowkey be the most important part of this update, as it’ll really let map makers create some wild stuff.

343 Industries is also making big changes to Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass. The Season 5 Battle Pass has been reduced from 100 tiers to 50 (the first 20 tiers of the pass are included in the free Battle Pass) and will include “multiple content items in a single tier of the pass,” so instead of having to unlock a left and right shoulder across two separate tiers of the pass, you will be able to unlock both in a single tier. Interestingly, with Season 5, you will be able to equip helmets and armor coatings across every armor core.

Completing the Battle Pass should be easier too, as with Season 5, you’ll be able to earn Match XP from Custom Games as well as normal matchmaking and Challenges. This could end up making some of the Halo Infinite easier to complete.

All of this comes to Halo Infinite when Season 5 kicks off on October 17. However, 343 has also teased that Firefight: King of the Hill will be added later in Season 5, so there’s even more to look forward to.
