It’s not Scrabble, it’s Happy Words!
Just look at the screenshot we have provided here. This looks like exactly the kind of person you don’t want to play a particular word-based board game against. Their lexicon is excellent, to the point of annoying, and they have a penchant for playing individual letters in corners where two other words meet. Good job then that this next game isn’t Scrabble, but instead it is Happy Words. And Happy Words is out today on Xbox!
We promise this isn’t Scrabble
At first glance, you’d be forgiven that this was a new Scrabble game. Even on a second and third glance, you’d probably think the same. Happy Words is a letter-tile game where you place your tiles on a large grid to create words. The letters have a score value, and certain tiles can be strategically used to increase your score when passing over them. So, Scrabble in every sense but the name.
Happy Words does allow you to customise your game however you see fit. Firstly, it comes in a range of languages for the bilingual and bilingual-curious out there: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Bulgarian.
You can also choose who and how you play against them:
- Online with your friends or via random opponents from internet
- Solo versus intelligent robots
- Local on the same console with your friends and family
A new Christmas tradition?
Happy Words could be a good game to download for Christmas? With further options such as removing the dictionary, doubling the amount of tiles and plenty of cosmetic options, why not level the playing field with a nice festive themed word board?
Happy Words is on the Xbox Store now priced at £8.39. The best part though is that you will never lose any of the letter tiles in this version. Stay tuned for our review coming soon and let us know in the comments if you will be picking this up.
And by the way, I know all about how annoying the aforementioned Scrabble player can be, because that used to be me in my younger days against my grandma.
