Retronauts Episode 581: Holiday Special 2023 – Pac-Man Christmas Album
Waka Waka WHY
Be careful what you wish for, kids: I (Diamond Feit) have long yearned to crash Bob’s annual holiday podast gathering because I abhor feeling left out. Little did I know that this year’s special dedicated to forgotten media of the past would cover the Pac-Man Christmas Album—an audio abomination that mashes up one of the most popular arcade games of all time and a lukewarm lineup of bland songs. Did you know Christmas is a special time of year that does not occur in other seasons? Never fear, this record will remind you of this many times!
Bob Mackey plays host as usual this year, welcoming Henry Gilbert and myself to listen and lament the lackadaisical effort put forth on this hapless cash-in. As this post goes live on Christmas Day, we hope your expectations are low because whether you love Pac-Man or Jesus, this music poorly conveys the majesty of either.
Description: The holidays are here once again, which means its time for all you listeners to take your thirteenth trip to Parts Unknown for yet another exploration of a Yuletide-related video game creation. And this time around, we’re examining the Pac-Man Christmas Album: a collection of holiday songs and sketches that very little to do with Pac-Man, but everything to do with hurting. So remember who you are right now, because the following 90 minutes will change you as Bob Mackey, Henry Gilbert, and Diamond Feit thoroughly pore over this musical atrocity. Apologies in advance for ruining Christmas.
