Now Mario rip-off games are invading smart TVs

Mario clone games and rip-offs are a dime a dozen. There have been knock-off Mario titles ever since the days of the NES through bootleg cartridges and more, and that trend has continued through to the PC, tablets, smartphones and more. Rest assured, if someone out there thinks they can steal from Nintendo’s IP and get away with it, they’re going to give it a go.

The latest example of the never-ending push to cash in on Mario can now be found on smart TVs. In particular, a game called !Super Marty! was found hiding on the LG TV Content Store, and you can already tell by the name that it’s a quick cash-grab. It doesn’t have anywhere near the style or polish that any Mario games have, but there’s sure to be a few people who give this one a go out of morbid curiosity.

Klebo is the company behind !Super Marty!, and there’s no doubt their days are now numbered. With word spreading on this copycat title, you can bet Nintendo’s lawyers are drafting up a cease and desist as we speak. We’ll keep an eye on the situation to see just how long it is before !Super Marty! mysteriously vanishes from existence.
