Palworld paying eye-watering sum to keep Xbox and PC servers running

Palworld, as a hugely popular game still in its Game Preview infancy, has run into a fair few problems with server issues and massive player numbers. And it seems those servers are costing Pocket Pair in other ways, too, with the news that the developer is spending huge amounts on server fees.Pocket Pair CEO Takuro Mizobe jokingly tweeted that the devs might “go bankrupt due to server fees” (translated from Japanese by Google) with an image showing server fees had gone up by 359%.

In a reply, Palworld lead network engineer Chujo Hiroto says, “Following the order to never let the service go down no matter what, we have prepared servers without regard to cost. We will continue to give our all to ensure that all players can enjoy to the fullest,” adding the slightly gulp-inducing figure of “$478,000…”

The Palworld servers have had no small amount of trouble, but luckily Xbox will be lending a hand for dedicated servers and performance improvements. On the other side of things, Palworld is also enjoying huge success. It’s already the biggest third party Game Pass launch of all time and has been played by over seven million players on Xbox.

We’ll keep an eye out for any more Xbox updates — in the meantime, there are ten Palworld achievements to hunt down.
