Prepare to laugh out loud with Whirlight – No Time To Trip in 2025
2025 huh. Long way away, yes? Well, you’d be right, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get ready to laugh out loud with a new time-traveling point-and-click adventure with Whirlight – No Time To Trip.
Whirlight – No Time To Trip is reimagining
Revealed by the Italian team at imaginarylab (a studio dedicated to reimagining classic graphic adventures) is Whirlight – No Time To Trip. This is a nostalgic adventure that is set to launch on PC via Steam in 2025. And from there on out, it should also be dropping onto Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch too.
Whirlight – No Time To Trip aims to mix traditional genre ideas with some eclectic gameplay styles. It’ll do that by paying homage to some of the utter icons of the genre, classics like Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island. The thing is, this one will come with a very distinct look.
You see, imaginarylab are taking the characters and backgrounds first, originally created as 3D assets. Before being then rendered in 2D to maintain a high visual quality to pop among other modern takes. The result is an immersive and unpredictable spectacle fit for veteran players and newcomers alike.
The swinging sixties
Whirlight – No Time to Trip begins in the sixties with an eccentric yet genius inventor named Hector. After a dream spurs him to assemble a device made from components scattered around his Venice-inspired hometown of Verice Bay, Hector is hurled forward in time to the nineties. There he meets a determined artist named Margaret. Together, the pair embark on a quest through space and time to avert the planet from global catastrophe.
“Whirlight will stand out in the point-and-click adventure genre by offering both a nostalgic nod to the past and a fresh, modern gaming experience,” says Ciro Camera, co-founder at imaginarylab. “We are incredibly excited to build on what we’ve learned from Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town and present players with unprecedented depth and diversity, be it in the form of visuals, gameplay, narrative, and more. Longtime point-and-click fans won’t be disappointed.”
