New report states Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment will be the first Xbox games going to PS5 and Switch – WGB

The critically beloved duo of Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment will be the first Xbox games to make the journey to PlayStation and Switch this year.

That’s according to a new report from Tom Warren at the Verge who wrote a piece tackling the idea of why Microsoft seem to be readying to bring some of their biggest games to rival consoles for the first time amidst a slow-down of Game Pass growth.

“The first two games that are set to appear on rival consoles are Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, according to sources. ” writes Tom.

Hi-Fi Rush has been rumoured for a while, but this is the first time Pentiment has been brought into the conversation. It would make sense for Microsoft to dip its toes into the multiplatform waters with these two smaller titles that were incredibly well received but didn’t see huge sales. Hi-Fi Rush seems like a game that could do especially well on Sony and Nintendo’s machines, giving it a chance to reach a much bigger and appreciative audience.

The report also states that Sea of Thieves will set sail later in the year. Again, it’s an interesting choice. Sea of Thieves has done incredibly well for Xbox since it launched in 2018 but its popularity has obviously waned since then. A release on other platforms could provide a massive boost for the live-service title and add years to its lifespan.

As for other games, Warren simply says that they are being considered. Of course, other reports we’ve seen have pointed to big Xbox games like Starfield and Indiana Jones also coming to PS5, as well as Halo and Gears of War.

We should finally get some answers this coming Thursday via a special edition of the Xbox podcast featuring Matt Booty, Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond.
