Would you play Helldivers 2 if it came to Xbox?

Arrowhead Studios’ bug-blasting shooter, Helldivers 2, has taken the internet by storm since launching on PS5 and PC earlier this month, and a petition has gained traction calling for Sony to release Helldivers 2 on Xbox.

Helldivers 2 is a third-person squad-based shooter, which puts you in the shoes of elite soldiers facing down an alien threat — similar to the cult classic movie, Starship Troopers. It looks like a ton of fun, and it seems many Xbox fans want in on the action. On Monday, we reported that a petition started last week had passed 26,000 signatures from players asking for Helldivers 2 to come to Xbox, and by Friday that number had crossed over 72,000.

The call for Sony to launch one of its first-party games on Xbox isn’t a random act, and is likely related to Microsoft’s recent confirmation that some Xbox exclusives will be released on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles — we now know the first four games making the jump to rival platforms, including Sea of Thieves.

Personally, I think Sony should follow Microsoft and bring PlayStation exclusives to Xbox, as game development is far too expensive to be leaving tens of millions of potential customers on the sidelines — the industry’s mass layoffs are proof of that.
