Content Warning is about to go viral
What could possibly be better than posting a video of yourself or your friends doing something stupid online? Personally, I can think of a lot of things I’d rather do including sticking hot pins in my eyes, but for some people, this sort of thing is a way of life. We’re going to be taking the concept of plastering yourself all over the net for money and running with it today. The game is Content Warning, and it’s casting the art of becoming an internet celebrity in an entirely new light.
Content Warning is an interesting new entry to the horror genre and is coming to us from the folk at Landfall. In the spirit of April Fools Day, this title will be available completely free on Steam for the first 24 hours and will then pick up the rather reasonable price tag of $7.99, or £6.69 for us UK folk.
In Content Warning you’ll be taking on the role of a content creator as you explore the entrance to an old, forbidden world and try to film silly videos for Spookytube. You won’t have to do this alone if you don’t want to. You can, of course, run solo but you can also head into the chaos with 2 – 4 of your friends. This might be a wise choice as it would appear that this old online space isn’t as full of fun and giggles as it may first appear.
You’ll customize your character in Content Warning with an ASCII face customizer and plumb the depths of The Old World. Here you’ll find a slew of creepy creatures, each with their own wild physics. You’ll also discover a series of cursed relics and, of course, film yourself getting up to nonsense in the name of going viral on Spookytube. What could possibly go wrong? Well as this is a horror title I think you can guess that a lot is the answer to that rather obvious question.
If you don’t value your life your task is simple. All you need to do is grab your mates, create your character, and jump into the diving bell to The Old World. Then you’ll film yourself and your friends until you get all the footage you need or die. Running out of oxygen is a very real problem you’ll have to face but this is going to be the least of your worries if one of the denizens gets their hands on you first.
In Content Warning, every run into the depths lasts three days. The more scary stuff you film the more views you’ll attract when you get back and, therefore, the faster your videos will go viral. You’ll be able to use ad revenue from your videos to buy better gear and continue your Spookytube career. Just be careful not to run out of friends or life in the process or you won’t be uploading anything. This is the chance you take in search of internet stardom.
If you fancy doing something a little different in the horror genre then Content Warning might fit the bill perfectly for you. As free is the best possible price you can ask for it makes sense to hop onto Steam as soon as you’ve finished reading this to snag your copy of the game. Incidentally, I’m done. Well, off you go then.
