The Westmark Legacy is Foretold

The CCG/TCG realm of gaming is a funny thing. In many genres, games are incrementally better than each other, obviously, or we wouldn’t have a job. In the case of this one, the gap between good and bad often feels like more of a chasm and this creates problems because a lot of gamers would rather spend their money on what they know is good as opposed to what might be in a space that’s crowded with clones and shovelware. This makes it all the more important to crow about the titles that look interesting and different because it’s unfair to tar everything with the same brush. One such title is The Foretold: Westmark Legacy and that’s going to be the subject of conversation today.

I had to make reference to this one because The Foretold: Westmark Legacy combines two of my favorite things; anything CCG-related and the Lovecraft Mythos. It’s coming from the folk at Nodbrim Interactive and publisher Crytivo and will be available on Steam for PC come April 30th for $19.99 for our North American friends, or £15.82 if we’re on this side of the pond.

The Westmark Legacy is Foretold

The Foretold: Westmark Legacy is, as I’ve just mentioned, a gothic horror adventure card game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. In this spooky tale, you’ll be stepping into the shoes of investigator Herbert Westmark and his companion Ambrose. Ambrose is witty and likable, he’s also a parasitic demon and, therefore, an interesting ally. Together you will unravel the dark secrets of Burrmouth in an eldrich tale of Lovecraftian terror where the path of cosmic horror may lead to places more unhinged than you can imagine.

In The Foretold: Westmark Legacy you’ll have to equip items and relics and then strategically purchase and utilize cards as you battle the twisted horrors that haunt Burrmouth‘s darkest corners. Every turn in this tale of terror will lead to a new twist in the path with new mysteries to unravel. The branching roads of the town map will lead to hidden loot, encounters, and a few other surprises best left uncovered for now. These roads will also lead you to one of a series of different endings; if, of course, you can survive.

If, like me, you’re craving a brand new dose of Lovecraftian weirdness, The Foretold: Westmark Legacy appears to have plenty in store. If you enjoy a good deck builder and are after a bit of cosmic terror this could be the combination you’ve been wanting. We’ll certainly know for sure when the end of April comes about.
