GTA 6 publisher is reportedly shutting down two studios
Take-Two is reportedly closing Roll7 and Intercept Games
Last month, Take-Two Interactive announced that it is laying off 580 employees, around 5% of its workforce. Now, as reported by Bloomberg, Take-Two plans to shut down Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World developer Roll7, having apparently notified staff by way of a note to the team. The staff will reportedly be offered severance packages. As for Kerbal Space Program 2 developer Intercept Games, Bloomberg reports that a document filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department on Monday says that Take-Two is closing an office in Seattle, cutting a “vast majority” of its team — around 70 jobs.
Roll7 and Intercept Games are part of Private Division, Take-Two’s publishing arm for smaller games. According to the report, a number of Private Division staff have also been laid off.
We’ve seen far too many layoffs and cutbacks hit developers over the last year, which have affected thousands of employees across the industry. Back in January, Microsoft laid off around 1,900 employees across Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard. EA followed suit in February by cutting 5% of its workforce, around 670 employees.
