The Heart of Salamanderland – Another fabulous Amstrad game has appeared, and it’s by Juan J. Martínez (Reidrac)!

Thanks to a heads up by both XeNoMoRPH and Juan J. Martínez (Reidrac), we’ve been told that if you head on over to the link provided below, you can check out Reidrac’s high quality action platformer for the Amstrad CPC, called ‘The Heart of Salamanderland’. A game which was created by the same developer behind other great games such as Brick Rick, Magica and our personal favourite The Dawn of Kernel. To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest footage from Xeno below.

Here’s the latest from the website. “Our hero Patton has been tracking down the Heart of Salamanderland for months. He has found a map showing the way to a hidden dungeon in the Dragon’s Tail mountain, at the Glacier National Park (Montana, U.S.A.). The ancient relic is hidden in a dungeon protected by a powerful spell that prevents anyone carrying human made weapons from finding the door. Luckily, Patton has found a whip that is said to come from Salamanderland”.

“The dungeon is full of traps and monsters, that won’t make this adventure easy. Equipped with the whip and the key, you must enter the dungeon and find the 9 tears of The Guardian. When you have collected the tears, will you be able to face The Guardian of the Heart in deadly combat”

“The game has been developed by Juan J. Martínez (code, graphics and sound), with menu screen by Eric Cubizolle (TITAN), and it was inspired by old classics like Castlevania, Rick Dangerous or Montezuma’s Revenge”.

Some highlights:

  • Single player flip-screen platform-adventure action
  • 55 screens to explore
  • 8 enemy types with unique behaviour
  • Compatible with any Amstrad CPC
  • Control by keyboard or joystick (supports two buttons)

The game is available as a free download from usebox.net and a physical edition is being planned later this year by Poly Play.
