Day 1: Morning
After the nicely animated intro sequence, get out of the taxi and walk into the hotel to check-in. Once inside talk to Theresa.
Theresa will call Klaus and will ask you to meet him. Go to the right from the hotel towards the Tourist Info sign and head to the Tourist Area. Follow the cobblestone path to the high street then head left till you reach the Tourist Area. Follow Klaus’ instructions to clear the combat tutorial.
Day 1 : Noon
Once the combat tutorial is done – enter your first portal. Head straight up the steps and through the gate and Klaus will call out to you. Keep going straight and to the right you can go up a ledge and pick up the Coin: Beginner’s Dungeon.
Drop down and head to the right and fight the two Kobolds. Go straight and up the steps until you meet Klaus again. Jump across the gaps and climb the cliffside and you will reach a cobblestone path. Keep going through the earthquake and Klaus will call out to you again. Fight the Kobolds in the town center.
Once they are done, heal up at the goo and sever the two tendrils holding up the path, once it drops down the road, climb up the ledge. There is a chest on the right with 500 Hinterbucks and another on the left with 500 more. From the second chest go across the bridge and sever the tendril.
After the road opens up, head straight through and climb the ledge on the right.
Go around and sever the tendril at the end of this path. Drop down and sever the central tendril, then go around the left and climb up the ledge for the third. This will drop the statue blocking your path. Head through the newly opened path until you meet Klaus again. Next up is a boss fight with a Minor Krampus.
Turn around from the Krampus and head to the left, clear the tendrils on your way and climb up the ledge.
Follow the path and kill the tendril holding up the statue on this side (left of the Krampus). Now follow the path on the right of the Krampus and kill the tendril holding up the statue on this side. Go up to the Krampus and hit him 2-3 times and he should be dead. Now run up the stairs and follow the path to the exit gate. Use your stamp book and exit.
Day 1 : Night
You will wake up in your bed now. Eventually, you will be in a bar and Alex will start a conversation with you.
Day 2 : Morning
After she convinces you to stay, its now the morning on Day 2. Eventually Alex will start the quest: Starting Out. Select Doberkogel from your map and head there.
Day 2 : Noon
Head down the path and talk to Marina. Next, follow the path on the right to the Skill Shrine. Two kobolds will block your way, kill them and keep going. Talk to Albert at the Shrine. Follow his instructions to pick up your magic skills – Wrecking Ball and Ball and Chain. Use the Wrecking Ball on the boulders behind you.
Do the same on the next set of boulders and follow the path until you come across and a jumpable gap. Keep following the signs to the Abandoned Mine. Use your Ball and Chain skill to pull down the tree trunk to make a make shift bridge and cross over.
Kill the Kobolds on the other side and then pick up all the loot in the area. Climb up the cliff at the back of the area.
Dungeon: Abandoned Mineshaft
Eventually you will discover the entrance blocked by boulders. There is a lift, where you should load up your Wrecking Ball and pull the pulley down and detonate the Wrecking ball to clear a path.
Climb up the ladder, pick up the loot and the Nouveau Heart 1000 Sword at the entrance of the dungeon. Head inside and pick up the loot before climbing down the big ladder in the middle of the dungeon. Kill the kobolds at the bottom. Use Ball and Chain to destroy the tendrils holding up a chest and mine cart.
Push the cart on the first button and then the one on the left on top of the second button. Next summon your Wrecking ball on the third switch to open the path forward. Jump across and talk to Travis. Climb up the path on the right and shimmy across. Next, pull a path across with your Ball and Chain.
Shimmy across and follow the path up the stairs. Eventually, you will be ambushed by two kobolds. Take them out. Blow up the boulders and then pick up the health potion. Press the button to open the gate and head through. Follow the path and you will see a Hobangoas with a magic shield. Shields are depleted faster when attacked by magic. Just whale on him with the Ball and Chain and replenish MP by hitting him.
Once he is dead, climb up the ladder and ride the mine cart. Once you get off the mine cart, get on it again and head to the right to pick up the Coin: Abandoned Mineshaft. Ride back down. Use the wrecking ball while standing on the platform – on the left – and climb up the ledge for some loot. Go to the right and use your Ball and Chain on the target here.
Now drop down and pull the mine cart out. Ride the mine cart – left and then right and avoid all the obstacles and eventually the ride will end with you jumping off. Shimmy to the right and then climb up to reach a new area. In this area, ride the mine cart down, then bring it to the left. Push the switch to open the gate and ride out.
On top pull the blob towards you to create a track for the mine cart. Ride back down, close the gate and bring the cart to the far left. Open the gate again, and ride the cart out to the right side this time.
This will lead you to the final boss of this dungeon – The Miner’s widow.
After defeating her, stamp your book and head out.
Day 2 : Evening
Back in town, talk to Alex and she will teach you the social aspects of the game. Next, go to the pharmacy and pick up the free health potion. You have to now find someone to spend the evening with. I found Albert at the café and decided to spend the evening with him. Finish Day 2 by going to bed.
This will conclude the demo of Dungeons of Hinterberg.
