Japanese magazine packs in an amazing papercraft Famicom

Have you ever heard of the Japanese magazine Televi-kun? We’re guessing you haven’t, and neither had we until just a few minutes ago. Now all we can think about is how we need to snag their latest issue.

The most recent release for Televi-kun includes a special tribute to the Famicom for its 41st anniversary, giving readers plenty of history to thumb through. That’s all well and good, but the real exciting part is the incredible papercraft Famicom that readers can put together with the included kit.

This papercraft Famicom is incredibly realistic-looking, but there’s even more to it than that. Believe it or not, this Famicom lets you dock the controllers just like the real-deal, and it also has a functioning ejection slider to pop out the papercraft Super Mario Bros. Famicom cartridge! …but trust us, things get even more impressive than that!

The attention to detail doesn’t stop there, as the papercraft Famicom controllers have buttons that can actually be pressed…and they make noises as well! Hitting the buttons will play sounds from Super Mario Bros., all thanks to a tiny speaker included in the kit. If there were ever a Nintendo magazine worth importing, this is it!

The fun doesn’t stop there, as this magazine also packs in a notebook with Mario and Goomba pixel art, a set of stickers featuring Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Xevious, The Tower of Druaga, Legend of Valkyrie, Nobunaga’s Ambition, Mega Man, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and TwinBee, and a pair of Famicom posters!

The magazine is set to go on sale sometime around July 1st, 2024 in Japan, and it’s priced at roughly $18.50. A hefty price for a magazine, but with all the goodies mentioned above, it seems quite a fair ask.
