Shroom Siege to spread spores to PC and console in 2025

A single-screen, team-based arcade action platformer, Shroom Siege will be coming to PC and console in 2025. But if that sounds like a long way off, a Steam demo should keep you quiet. 

Shroom Siege comes from the Upside Down Bird development team, as they look to start spreading spores onto Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC (through Steam) in 2025. If you want to check it out ealier, a Steam demo will arrive on August 6th 2024. 

The spores spread

In Shroom Siege the fungus kingdom is spreading, taking control of all, claiming dominance in the world. It’s here where you start off life as a little mini mushroom, complete with the power and ability to infect others, taking over their minds, becoming all the mightier. 

Playing out as a 4v4 multiplayer game, in Shroom Siege you’ll find victory coming about in three unique ways – Shrine, Shogun and Poop. Whichever, you’ll get to master various mounts, outwitting your opponents and cutting down the competition. 

Various game modes

Each of those game modes is worth looking at too…

• Shrine Victory: Command Minions to collect enough small orbs to offer as sufficient tribute to surrounding shrines. Watch for danger and move quick! Minions respawn indefinitely, so going for the Shrine means playing it safe.
• Shogun Victory: Eliminate the opposing Shogun three times. Control the mighty flying Shogun and cut down any adversary lower than them with its samurai sword. High-risk, high-reward: fatal missteps bring the other team closer to their own Shogun Victory!
• Poop Victory: Force foes to smell the stench of defeat by mounting a Dung Beetle to slooowly roll a poopy payload to the opposite side of the map. Winners often report this as the most satisfying way to win. Losers often claim it’s the most humiliating.

Shroom Siege is a single screen affair, one that will require the use of quick reflexes and the most clever of tactics. It’s also a game that focuses hard on communication and coordination, no matter whether you go at it locally or via the online world. 

Coming in 2025

“The original version of Shroom Siege was created during the 2023 Global Game Jam,” said Ben Hamrick, Developer at Upside Down Bird. “Like a mushroom, the project kept growing, and we hope others will enjoy our wacky, fast-paced multiplayer game.”

Shroom Siege will look to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2025. Remember to keep an eye out for the Steam demo.
