The First Descendant devs making “adjustments” after Destiny 2 comparisons
Nexon to make “adjustments” to The First Descendant following Destiny 2 comparisons
Last week, Nexon was accused of using “barely-changed” Destiny 2 icons in its free-to-play looter shooter, The First Descendant, which also features several similar weapons to Bungie’s game. Nexon has now responded to Forbes, saying it is “taking the concerns raised seriously” and plans to make adjustments in The First Descendant.
“The First Descendant, as a looter shooter game, was developed with a deep affection and respect for other games in the genre,” Nexon says in a response shared by Forbes’ Paul Tassi. “Destiny 2, being a globally renowned looter shooter game, is also personally admired and respected by the team, and it has served as an inspiration during the development process. We have taken the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments to ensure that the imagery that may appear similar clearly reflects the unique identity of our game. We will continue to improve the game for fans of the looter shooter genre.”
Nexon has also announced that The First Descendant has been played by over 10 million players since launching on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and other platforms earlier this month. While it’s yet to join the other games on our list of the best free Xbox games, The First Descendant is looking like a strong contender!
