Suda51, Shinji Mikami would be happy to do a Killer7 sequel if Capcom would allow it
Both Suda51 and Shinji Mikami have worked on a lot of niche titles and big-name games in their careers, which had led to the pair making quite an impression on the game industry. The duo has even collaborated on titles, and that includes Shadows of the Damned and the upcoming Hella Remastered version. Before Shadows of the Damned, the pair also tackled Killer7, and it’s clear they’d like another crack at the IP.
In an interview with the Future Games Show, Suda51 and Shinji Mikami had a lot to say about Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, but they also talked about another one of their classic works. When asked about the potential for creating a sequel to Killer7, the developers clearly had an interest in doing just that…but it’s all up to Capcom.
Suda51 and Shijni Mikami might be the brains behind Killer7, but the IP itself is owned by Capcom. They were the original publisher of the title back in the GameCube/PS2 days, and they’ve held onto the rights ever since. That means no official sequels can get the go-ahead without Capcom’s blessing.
While nothing is set in stone right now, Suda51 did say he planned on getting together with Mikami for a trip down to Capcom HQ in the hopes of making a Killer7 sequel happen. Of course, Suda51 loves to joke around, so who knows if this meeting will actually happen. As a Killer7 fan myself, I’ll keep all my fingers and toes crossed.
