Xbox unveils another gorgeous transparent controller and new Design Lab options

Transparent controllers are the rage again, if the reveal of the Cipher Series for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the special edition Ghost Cipher controller are anything to go by. This new collection is pretty gorgeous, and what’s more, the Xbox team is also adding new D-pad and paddle designs to the Xbox Design Lab. Check it all out below.

Cipher Series unveiled for Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2

The Cipher Series includes some new options for transparent casing and metallic details which you can check out in the Xbox Design Lab, with new chromatic D-pad and paddle designs also available. If you prefer to have a beautiful new controller picked out for you (who doesn’t know the pain of putting real effort in on the Xbox Design Lab and creating something hideous) the Ghost Cipher Xbox wireless controller is available to preorder now for $69.99.

The Cipher Series has some gorgeous options available and, according to the Xbox team, they all play into that nostalgic ’90s/’00s theme. “Each color tells a unique story: Ghost Cipher strips away all color to reveal a fully transparent top case, offering a clear view of the controller’s inner workings; Velocity Cipher pays homage to the iconic Xbox green, made transparent to expose the energized world inside; Astral Cipher captures the mysteries of deep space with a rich, regal shade of purple; Surf Cipher channels the energy of ocean waves with its transparent blue; Candy Cipher offers a dreamy, sweet vision with a playful pink top case; and Pulse Cipher embodies passion and power with a striking transparent red.” Aside from looking pretty, the Xbox team assures everyone that these controllers also come with all the best bits you’re after, with “rubberized diamond grips, adjustable-tension thumbsticks, and shorter hair trigger locks.”

It’s a nice addition to what we saw earlier this year with the blue Sky Cipher special edition controller, and will no doubt leave us even more indecisive when playing in Xbox Design Lab.
