Welcome to the Into Indie Games walkthrough for Death of the Reprobate.

This is a point-to-point walkthrough that takes you through the critical path to completing the game. Death of the Reprobate has a lot more to offer apart from the steps outlined in this walkthrough, so we highly recommend that you explore and interact with its world as much as possible.

The Magic Flute

First talk to the Goat King, and then ask to borrow his Magic Flute.

While you’re here, also ask for the spell that turns small wooden horses into small real horses.

After you learn the melody, “Daa Doo Dee Hee”, end the conversation and use the flute on the Goat King.

Play each of the holes of the flute to learn which note is which. Then, play the melody as given above. Counting from the top, this should be holes 3, 1, 4, 6.

The Tired Father

To find the father, first go to the main street and then go through the open door behind the market stall and below the woman on the ladder.

Use the highlight button/key if you need help finding it.

Here, you will be told to get out. Use your flute (which you got from the barn) on the kid in green and play the melody you learned (which you got from the Goat King).

If done right, the kid will go off on their now-real horse. You can now talk to the father on the left side of the screen.

Ask him what you can help him with, and then ask him what you need to do to shut the kids up. Ask the father about both how to put the babies to sleep, and then how to get to the tavern.

Finally, ask what to get to eat for the brat and exit this house the same way you came.

Feeding the Brat

First, we’ll deal with the kid in the high chair. Once out on the main street, talk to the man at the Market Stall in the main street.

Ask him for some fruit and/or vegetables, and then threaten him with violence. Next, ask him for some strawberries.

Now return to the family’s house and this time, go through the door to the left.

Talk to the Fighter on the left side of this screen to get rid of him.

Now use your strawberries on the trough to the right of the ‘beef’. Then, use your hand action on the beef to get some strawberry milkshake.

Pick up the bucket and return to the family’s house. Use the strawberry milkshake on the boy to shut him up.

Now, we’ll go get the swaddling blankets for the babies.

Getting the Swaddling Blankets

Exit the family’s house and go all the way right on the main street screen. Here, talk to the forest people and ask to pass through their blockade. If you got the password from the mother in the family house, you’ll gain entry through the blockade automatically.

You’ll find the tavern located between the buskers and the forest people, so go there now.

Inside, talk to the men betting on monkeys and ask to borrow the swaddling blankets. Then, ask to borrow the turban.

Ask to make a guess on the monkeys’ dice. Here, you can either ‘play along’, or complain that this makes no sense (bottom-most dialog option). If you complain enough, you can get the swaddling blankets immediately.

If you wish to play along, then follow this formula. I will use one possible example.

Step 1, note the two numbers the first person says. (2, 4)

Step 2, note the two numbers the second person says. (5, 2)

Step 3, the third person will tell you which of the numbers are valid. (5, 2)

Step 4, look at the local drunkards Alan (over the barrel) and Colin (on the chair), who will be holding out their fingers. Add their numbers as stated by the fourth person. (5 + 1 = 6, 2 + 2 = 4).

If you get a value that’s 7 or higher, 7 will be come 1, 8 will become 2, and so on. (Still 6, 4)

Step 5, re-calculate based on the fifth person’s advice. (1s are 5s and 5s are 2s).

This means we change the numbers in the Step 4 calculation as instructed by the fifth person. In our case, the calculations change to (2 + 1 = 3, 2 + 2 = 4)

In this case, the answer is that the first dice is 3, and the second dice is 4.

If you get it right, the dice will still be ‘wrong’, but the man with the swaddling blankets will psych you and say that he got you.

Talk to the man again and ask him for the swaddling blankets to get them.

Now return to the family house and use the swaddling blankets on the babies.

This will complete your good deed for the tired father.
